This blog is for art, science,
fandom stuff, random stuff
sometimes I make things transparent
It’s weird how in animals seeing ribs/collar&hip bones is considered sick or even abusive, but in people that’s considered beautiful.
This may have just changed my life.
This is the best thing I’ve ever read.
This is the post which helped me beat anorexia.
#i love how dean’s not even the least bit cowed by the father of murder#like dean is so fuckin chill at cain’s house
We were driving past a cemetery and my Dad said in a dead serious quiet voice “I know something you don’t know about this place. The people living in this town aren’t allowed to be buried here.” And I was really confused so I asked why and he said
"Because they’re still alive."
Fuck you, Dad, with your creepy Dad jokes.
As dad jokes go, that one IS rather unsettling O.O
These rings are stunning. They make me think of the spring, I love there style and there nature like feel and whimsy. They look really elf-y inspired too.
28-year old Cola the cat is set to celebrate a milestone birthday - turning 140 in cat years and being crowned Britain’s oldest cat. Until now a cat called Wadsworth, from Ravensden, Bedfordshire, was thought to hold the crown of Britain’s oldest living feline - after celebrating his 27th birthday this year. But Cola, who was born in in November 1985, trumps him by several months.
this cat is older than me. he’s probably older than you too. just think about that.
So if you make a lot of fan art, you sometimes get asked the “Yeah, but explain yourself” question. In which the other person doesn’t quite get your niche interests, and has never heard of your favorite show. And basically just doesn’t understand what fandom is about or how it works. And really, this is a waste of time, and you should be doing more noble, pretentious, high-brow things. More terrible Real Artist things.
Because take a show like Supernatural. People who aren’t in fandom or who don’t spend time online don’t realize that 90% of “Supernatural” isn’t even the actual show. It’s what the fans create given the decidedly limited amount of information (most of it barely hinted at, most of it clumsily conveyed and contradictory) in the show. It’s the fanfiction, fan art, discussion—it’s all this other stuff.
The show is just the spark. It’s a TV show. It comes on once a week on channel 3. But the fandom is the TV show—and also what’s been created by fans. It’s way bigger. It’s like Supernatural+
One is the theatrical version, and the other is the extended edition.
Fans of the TV show might think Dean is pretty cool, but fans of Supernatural+ like exploring what might happen to Dean, and they like how other fans have done that through stories and art and discussion. They like Dean+.
That’s why when I share my work online, my Supernatural art is the most popular stuff I’ve got. Because these are people who are enjoying all the bonus features, yeah? They’re enjoying something much much bigger than Just a Stupid Show on TV.
Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings—it’s kind of the same thing, you know? When you realize what the fans are creating given the parameters of a fictional world, suddenly the world seems so much bigger and better. Some of the greatest works of art and literature I’ve ever read have come from fans of “stupid TV shows” and “books for kids” and “nerdy crap.”
I mean, I can say, “Castiel is my favorite character ever,” and you might say, “Why the heck? He’s just some character on the CW. WHO CARES.”
And no, he’s actually not. Not the Castiel I’m talking about. The Castiel I’m talking about is Castiel+ and he’s a conglomeration of all that I’ve seen and read of him from my fellow fans. He’s a community effort, and the majority of my appreciation of his character comes from that fan effort, not just the show. I like the Cas whose character has been enriched by fan artists thousands of times over. He’s more to me because of the fans.
And that’s fandom, you know?
If only the people who ask the “Yeah but explain yourself” question could wrap their ugly little heads around that.
Inky paw prints presumably left by a curious kitty on a 15th century manuscript.

Guys, hey, guys. Do you remember that time that Coulson called Natasha and she ended up forming the Avengers? Remember how she did that by digging up Bruce Banner and introducing Steve to him then was the voice of reason when Tony and Steve were bickering and then how she brought Clint back from being mind controlled so that they can be a team? Remember that? Remember how the Black Widow out smarted a god? Remember that time she kept her shit together when the Hulk attacked her, even though she was really scared? Remember when she knocked an alien off his flying scooter and figured out how to drive it despite it being extrateresstrial tech, then got her ass up to the top of Stark Tower, found Loki’s staff and saved the world from being invaded by turning off the machine?
Remember how she was the central character of the whole freaking movie?
Anyone else remember that? I sure do.
#and remember how they didn’t sexualize her #remember how she was independent and didn’t need a male crutch #remember how when loki implied that she needed a man she completely tore him down #remember how natasha romanov doesn’t take shit from nobody #especially not a man
and yet all they asked scarlet was how difficult was it to get in her suit
